OceanStor 5210 V6 Hybrid Flash Storage, 8 Controllers

The Huawei OceanStor 5210 V6 is the entry point of the 5×10 V6 hybrid flash range, built for branch offices, departmental file services and smaller virtualisation clusters that need flash performance without an all-flash budget. Beijing Xinchuan Technology supplies and configures these systems, and quotes them by configuration because drive mix, protocol cards and licences are selected per project.

The system scales to 8 controllers with 128 GB to 512 GB of system cache. Each controller enclosure carries up to 4 hot-swappable I/O modules and 28 front-end host ports, with front-end connectivity covering 16/32/64 Gbit/s FC, 1/10/25/40/100 Gbps Ethernet and 25 Gbps RoCE, and SAS 3.0 on the back end. Supported protocols are FC, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, NDMP and S3. Because the enclosure accepts both SAS SSD and high-capacity SAS or NL-SAS drives, hot and cold data can sit in the same system.

Is the 5210 V6 all-flash or hybrid?

Hybrid. The controller enclosure accepts both SAS SSD and large-capacity SAS or NL-SAS drives, so hot data sits on flash and cold data on spinning disk inside the same system. All-flash models are the Dorado V6 series.

How does it differ from the 5310 V6?

Controller count and cache. The 5210 V6 tops out at 8 controllers and 512 GB of cache with 4 I/O modules and 28 front-end ports per enclosure. The 5310 V6 goes to 16 controllers, 2 TB of cache, 6 I/O modules and 40 ports.

Does it support NVMe over fabrics?

No. The 5210 V6 front end covers FC, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, NDMP and S3 with 16/32/64 Gbit/s FC and 1/10/25/40/100 Gbps Ethernet plus 25 Gbps RoCE. FC-NVMe and NVMe over RoCE start at the 5310 V6.

Are drives and expansion shelves included?

No. Controllers, drives, shelves and licences are quoted as separate line items, so the configuration matches the capacity and protocol mix you actually need.
