What BOSS-N1 Is

The Boot Optimized Storage Subsystem (보스 -N1) is a dedicated hardware RAID module with two M.2 NVMe SSD slots, purpose-built for one job: running the OS boot volume in RAID 1. Unlike using a front data bay, BOSS-N1 installs on an internal slot – so on a 16-bay or 44-bay chassis, every data bay stays free for data, and boot storage never competes with capacity.

Why Boot Storage Deserves Its Own Subsystem

Boot volumes are read-mostly, low-write workloads – exactly the profile where a dedicated RAID 1 module wins:

BOSS-N1 integrates with the platform’s security stack: Secure Boot validates the OS loader before it runs, TPM 2.0 anchors measured boot and encryption keys, and System Lockdown (iDRAC Enterprise) freezes firmware configuration in production. The boot volume can be encrypted (SED or software), protecting the OS image if a module is removed.
